There is no skating from Monday 23 to Thursday 26 November or from Monday 30 November to Thursday 3 December: the site is shut on those days.

Winter Glow expects the ice to be very busy on Saturdays and in the week before Christmas. For a quieter rink it suggests weekday daytimes or the earliest sessions at weekends.

Before you skate

From Winter Glow’s ice skating page and FAQs:

  • Age: no under-3s on the ice. Children aged 3 to 10 must have an adult on the ice with them, and Winter Glow recommends no more than four under-10s per adult. Over-10s can skate alone if watched from the viewing area.
  • Skates: included. You hand over your own shoes as a deposit. Sizes run from child J11 to adult 14, with some bob skates for very small children. You can bring your own skates, but the price is the same.
  • Skate aids: limited, for ages 3 to 10 only, and must be bought when you book. They cannot be added later.
  • Clothes: the rink is covered but kept at minus 5 degrees and is not heated. Thick socks and gloves are strongly advised. Helmets are not provided; bring your own if you want one.
  • Bags: not allowed on the ice. Winter Glow advises bringing only essentials and takes no responsibility for anything left.
  • Watching: non-skaters can use the viewing area without a ticket.
  • Rules: no racing, skating backwards, tricks or chains of three or more. Phones on the ice for photos only.

Princess parties: children can skate with Elsa, Anna and Olaf at 11am on Sundays 6, 13, 20 and 27 December. Fancy dress is encouraged.

Accessibility and sensory sessions

Manual wheelchairs are allowed on the ice with someone on the ice with you; Winter Glow provides studded overshoes for them. Electric wheelchairs are not allowed, and there is a limit of three wheelchairs per session, so contact Winter Glow first if your group has more. (Winter Glow, accessibility)

Sensory-friendly skating, with fewer people and lower music, is on 4, 11 and 18 December and at 5pm on 27 December. Winter Glow’s own pages disagree on the December time: the accessibility page says 6pm, the ticket page says 3pm. Check the session time when you book.

Getting there and parking

Winter Glow is at the Three Counties Showground, WR13 6NW. Follow the brown signs, then the signs for the Brown Gate entrance; parking is free in the West Gate car park, and stewards direct you in. If you need an accessible space, tell the parking stewards when you arrive. (Winter Glow FAQs)

By train, the nearest station is Great Malvern, which Winter Glow says is an eight-minute taxi ride from the showground.

Allow an hour and a half for skating, including the 20 to 30 minutes before your slot to get ready. There is no cashpoint on site; card and cash are both taken.

What else is at Winter Glow

  • Food Quarter and Ice Bar and Cafe: next to the rink, with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options.
