Worcester's Remembrance parade leaves the Cornmarket at 9.15am for a 10am Cathedral service and 11am silence. 2026 is 8 November; roads close 8am to 12.30pm.
Remembrance Sunday falls on Sunday 8 November 2026. In Worcester the day has run to the same timetable for years: a parade from the Cornmarket at 9.15am, a service in Worcester Cathedral at 10am, then the wreath-laying at the war memorial beside the Cathedral and the two minutes’ silence at 11am.
The quick answer
- Sunday 8 November 2026. Armistice Day is Wednesday 11 November.
- Last year: parade from the Cornmarket at 9.15am, Cathedral service at 10am, silence at the Cathedral war memorial at 11am, finishing about 11.15am. Road closures ran 8am to 12.30pm.
- The 2026 details are not published yet. The city council announced 2025’s on 4 November and 2024’s on 30 October.
How the day ran in 2025
Worcester City Council’s release of 4 November 2025 set out the timetable for Sunday 9 November 2025:
- 9.15am: the parade of veterans, serving armed forces and cadets moved off from the Cornmarket, via Mealcheapen Street, St Swithun’s Street and High Street, to the Cathedral.
- 9.40am: the Mayor of Worcester led a civic procession from the Guildhall to the Cathedral.
- 10am: the Service of Remembrance in Worcester Cathedral, ending around 10.40am.
- 11am: two minutes’ silence at the War Memorial beside the Cathedral, with wreath-laying, hymns and the National Anthem.
- About 11.15am: the ceremony ended and the parade returned past the Guildhall, where the Mayor and civic dignitaries took the salute.
Road closures were in place from 8am to 12.30pm. The council also said parades would take place in Claines and St John’s, with their own road closures.
The 2024 day, on 10 November, followed exactly the same times and route (Worcester City Council, 30 October 2024). So did 2022, when the parade gathered in the Cornmarket car park, which closed to the public from midnight the night before (Worcester City Council, 7 November 2022).
Where to stand
The service itself is inside the Cathedral, but the moments most people come for happen outdoors. The parade route runs up the High Street, and the silence and wreath-laying take place at the war memorial next to the Cathedral. The salute is taken outside the Guildhall on the High Street after the ceremony.
The Cathedral opens for visiting only from 12.30pm on Sundays in normal weeks, after its morning service (Worcester Cathedral).
The other acts of remembrance
Last year the council listed two more civic events, and both have run in the same form for at least two years:
- Woodbine Willie Memorial, St John’s Cemetery, McIntyre Road. The Mayor joined an act of remembrance on the Saturday morning, at 10.50am in 2025 and 11am in 2024. It honours Geoffrey Kennedy, who won the Military Cross in the First World War and, in the council’s words, was nicknamed “Woodbine Willie” for giving Woodbine cigarettes and spiritual aid to soldiers.
- Armistice Day. A short civic service at the Cathedral War Memorial, with the Mayor and standard bearers laying a wreath at 10.45am and the silence at 11am. In 2024 College Street closed to traffic from 10.45am to 11.15am for it. In 2026 Armistice Day is a Wednesday.
Still to be confirmed
- The 2026 parade and service times, and the road closure order.
- The Claines and St John’s parade times.
- Whether the Saturday act of remembrance at St John’s Cemetery takes place on Saturday 7 November.
Expect the council’s announcement in late October or the first days of November. We will update this page when it appears. Road closures will also be on our Worcester roadworks and travel page, and car parks on parking in Worcester.
